Plastic Board Extrusion Line
Extruder
It is the core equipment of the production line. Usually, it consists of a hopper, a screw, and a barrel. Plastic raw material pellets (such as PP, PE, etc.) enter from the hopper. The screw rotates inside the barrel and conveys the raw materials forward. During this process, the heating device outside the barrel heats the raw materials, gradually plasticizing them. The design of the screw is crucial. For example, the length-to-diameter ratio (L/D ratio) of the screw is generally between 20:1 and 30:1. The larger the length-to-diameter ratio, the longer the raw materials stay inside the screw and the better the plasticizing effect will be.
Mold
The shape of the mold determines the shape and size of the extruded plastic board. For the production line of flat boards, the outlet of the mold is usually a flat opening. If it is to produce special-shaped boards such as corrugated boards, the mold structure will be more complicated with the corresponding corrugated shape design. The flow channel design inside the mold should ensure that the plastic melt flows out evenly to guarantee the quality of the board.
Calendering Machine
The calendering machine is mainly used for surface treatment of the extruded plastic board to make its surface smoother and flatter. It is achieved through multiple rollers that press against each other. These rollers can adjust the spacing and pressure. For example, for thinner plastic boards, the roller pressure of the calendering machine needs to be appropriately reduced to avoid damaging the boards.
Cooling Device
The cooling device is used to quickly cool the freshly extruded plastic board so that it can be shaped. Common cooling methods include air cooling and water cooling. Air cooling is to reduce the temperature by blowing air onto the surface of the board through a fan. Water cooling is to let the board pass through a cooling water tank. For some plastic boards with high requirements for dimensional accuracy, the water cooling method can better control the shrinkage rate of the boards.
Traction Machine
The traction machine pulls the plastic board at a constant speed to ensure that the board moves stably on the production line. Its traction speed can be adjusted according to production requirements. The rollers of the traction machine are usually made of rubber or other high-friction materials to prevent the board from slipping during traction.
Cutting Device
The cutting device is used to cut the continuously extruded plastic board into the required lengths. There are multiple cutting methods, such as sawing and hot cutting. Sawing is suitable for thicker boards, while hot cutting can obtain a neater cut when cutting thinner boards. The cutting device has high precision and can ensure that the length of the cut board meets the standard requirements.
Construction Industry
It is used to produce building formwork, thermal insulation boards, decorative boards, etc. For example, in building formwork, the high strength and durability of plastic boards can replace traditional wooden formwork and can be reused, reducing costs. Thermal insulation boards can effectively block heat transfer and improve the energy efficiency of buildings.
Packaging Industry
It is used to manufacture various plastic boards for packaging, such as corrugated boards and hollow boards. Corrugated boards have good cushioning performance and can be used to protect fragile items. Hollow boards are lightweight and have relatively high strength, and are used for packaging electronic products, food, etc.
Advertising Industry
It is used to make billboards, display stands, etc. The rich colors and easy processing characteristics of plastic boards make them ideal materials for advertising production. Various exquisite advertising patterns can be made on plastic boards through printing, carving and other methods.
